I have used this product for a number of years now. I am a typical ‘English rose’ and have suffered with sunburn many times in the past so I am so pleased with this product. I usually start with factor 20 and then move down to 10 later in my holiday. It is so easy to use, spreads really well to ensure complete coverage and dries quickly. I only apply the once a day and I don’t burn - result. I would definitely recommend.

I've travelled all over and never burnt once (except for missed bits!) Great price compared to other makes, stinks when applied but disappeares quickly. And it really does work all day. Made in Manchester home of tropical sun and white sandy beaches along the shores of a crystal clear canal.

I have been using the SPF 30 once a day for the last few years and will never buy anotherr sunscreen . I am fairly pale and have light red hair always used to burn and never tan no matter what I used. This changed my whole holiday experience as since using I have never burnt or even gone red but gained a beautiful sun kissed colour would highly recommend 👍 .

I've been using this for a few years. I tan easily, and don't usually burn in the UK, so when I go to the Med in September I'm usually fairly well tanned already. I apply SPF 10 Once-a-day after breakfast and lie in the sun all day long, and never burn, unless my wife has missed a bit on my back! If I go abroad without a preliminary tan, I'll start off with SPF 20. Of all the all-day lotions I've used over the years, I've found this to be the most easy to apply, and doesn't smell too bad, like some do. It's also usually cheaper than the others, so it's a win-win for me!

Stops hyperpigmentation getting worse!03 May 23

This is an absolutely amazing sunscreen!!! Its better than the more expensive sunscreens out there!!! I don't know what it is about this product but it stops hyperpigmentation from getting worse!!! I have been a sufferer of hyperpigmentation for years! Any other sunscreen i use no matter what brand or price, my hyperpigmentation always gets further aggrevated even with a high spf 50! But with this no, i can be in the sun for hours and it won't get worse!!! I imagine it'll be the same for sunburn! This product has been a life saver for me literally and i really hope they never discontinue it or change the ingredients!!! It works so pls never change anything about it!!! Just make sure to let it dry the full 15mins as then it won't feel greasy!! I use powder on top. And i only came across this by change as my usual sunscreen had ran out! But its cheaper than my usual sunscreen and it actually works!!!!

Used to use a well known once a day product. This is less expensive and definitely a better product. Non greasy on application and if you wait the recommended 15 minutes it is totally dry. Superb protection and one application does last all day even after swimming. Highly recommended.

I had difficulty getting hold of my usual day-long sun cream so took a chance on this. . As others have said, its a gel and not a cream, but it absorbs super fast and its easy to apply. 2 weeks in day-long sunshine over 30 degrees and I have a good tan and no sunburn. I also usually suffer from heat rash but not with this product.

I've been using this since it was first introduced and find it wonderful. I used to get burned quite easily and then discovered Calypso Dry Spray which really worked for me and then changed to this to be sure my protection lasted all day - and IT DOES! Fantastic product but do follow the instructions carefully.

Very thick and creamy, but doesnt feel greasy. Goes along way. I love that its only once a day, even in and out the swimming pool. I bought it for my children but I now use it too and I never burn on holiday and still get a great tan! All I know is we never burn and weve been to Egypt and turkey at 45 degrees! I love it!

I've never been brave enough to try using this for the full day while on holiday in sweltering hot sun and have applied sun cream after 6 hours to be on the safe side. For the time I have used it I've not had any problems and my advice to anyone using it is to follow the instructions on how to apply. Really good for when you don't want to be continually applying sun cream all the time.

I'd used another well known brand of 'once a day' lotion for over 15 years but it was expensive. The Calypso popped up as a suggested alternative when I was searching for the other 'once a day lotion' and at half the price and with decent reviews I thought I'd give it a go. I found the Calypso a lot less greasy than the other one - it didn't feel like I'd varnished myself after applying it. It did the job required in the Canaries sunshine, no sunburn, and once a day was enough. Did what it was meant to do and half the price of the one I'd used for years.

I bought a bottle of this and a bottle of the factor 30. I used the factor 30 in Colombia and it did exactly as advertised - provided non-greasy all day protection from one application. I used the factor 20 for a trip to Greece in April and I didn't burn and ended up with a lovely tan - I've found my preferred brand of sunscreen and can't see that I'll change any time soon!

Apply to clean dry skin, preferably after a shower.
Apply evenly and generously to all exposed areas 15 minutes before sun exposure, then rub in well to allow the product to bind with the skin and form a protective film against UVA and UVB rays.
Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Our Once a Day Sun Protection only needs to be applied to the skin once and protects you all day long. The water resistant formula provides protection against both UVA and UVB rays. The range consists of five products ranging from SPF10 to SPF50+ and we recommend our Once a Day SPF40 for kids as it is suitable for their delicate skin.

What is SPF?

Do I need to apply sun cream when it is not particularly sunny or hot?

Yes, sunscreen is still required. Even when the sky is overcast, UV radiation levels are still at 80% of their normal levels. The temperature can be deceptive - a breeze can keep you cool, but it doesn't affect UV levels. Look up the UV index for your area to make sure you're using protection when you need to be.

Do Once A Day sunscreens really work for the whole day after a single application?

Yes! They keep their effectiveness by binding more strongly to the skin, so they last longer. Our Calypso Once A Day range is rigorously tested to ensure that even after 8 hours of wear, it still offers the SPF on the label. You should be extra careful to apply enough of the product and make sure all exposed skin is covered. However, please remember that even water-resistant Once A Day sunscreens can still be washed off if you spend a long time in the water or if you dry yourself with a towel, so you might need to reapply.

Are your products tested on animals, and are they suitable for vegetarians and vegans?

We're pleased to say that we don't test any of our products on animals. What's more, we don't buy ingredients that have been tested on animals by another manufacturer, so you can buy Calypso, confident in the knowledge that your sun care is cruelty-free.
All of our products are suitable for vegetarians. However, some contain ingredients like keratin (made from sheep's wool) or beeswax (made by bees) that vegans may wish to avoid.

Most of your sunscreens are water resistant, but what does that mean? Do I need to reapply sunscreen after swimming?

Sunscreens leave a protective layer on your skin, which can be washed off by water. A sunscreen that is water resistant stays on your skin for longer than normal. However, it will still be washed away eventually. To be safe, reapply if you spend more than forty minutes in the water. If you dry yourself with a towel or take a shower - anything that involves rubbing your skin - you should also reapply immediately. You will need to dry your skin before reapplying sunscreen, unless you're using our Calypso Dry Oil Wet Skin Spray, which can be applied on both wet and dry skin.

Why does Calypso not display the UVA star rating on its packaging?

Calypso SPF products meet all UVA and UVB standards and are rigorously tested to ensure their effectiveness. The star rating system was designed by Boots (retailer) and is not recognised as industry standard, nor is it regulated.

The letters "UVA" inside a circle is a European industry standard marking, which is contained on all Calypso products.

Can I use Calypso products during pregnancy?

Yes you can. All ingredients in the Calypso product range have been approved as cosmetic ingredients.
