What do SPF levels actually mean?
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and represents the sunscreens ability to protect your skin from the suns rays in addition to your skins natural protection. Depending on your skin type, hair colour, eye colour and location, you may be able to stay in the sun for 10 minutes without burning.
If you apply a sunscreen with SPF30 this means that you can stay in the sun 30 times longer than you could without sunscreen. However, you must use sunscreen as directed and ensure enough sunscreen is initially applied (35ml) for maximum coverage. Higher factors should not be used to increase your time in the sun, but to increase your level of protection.
Do I need to apply sun cream when it is not particularly sunny or hot?
Yes, sunscreen is still required. Even when the sky is overcast, UV radiation levels are still at 80% of their normal levels. The temperature can be deceptive - a breeze can keep you cool, but it doesnt affect UV levels. Look up the UV index for your area to make sure youre using protection when you need to be.
Are your products tested on animals, and are they suitable for vegetarians and vegans?

All our products are suitable for vegetarians. However, some contain ingredients like keratin (made from sheep's wool) or beeswax (made by bees) that vegans may wish to avoid.
Most of your sunscreens are water-resistant, but what does that mean? Do I need to reapply sunscreen after swimming?
Sunscreens leave a protective layer on your skin, which can be washed off by water. A sunscreen that is water-resistant stays on your skin for longer than normal. However, it will still be washed away eventually. To be safe, reapply if you spend more than forty minutes in the water. If you dry yourself with a towel or take a shower anything that involves rubbing your skin you should also reapply immediately. You will need to dry your skin before reapplying sunscreen, unless youre using our Calypso Dry Oil Wet Skin Spray. This can be applied on both wet and dry skin.
Why does Calypso not display the UVA star rating on its packaging?
Calypso SPF products meet all UVA and UVB standards and are rigorously tested to ensure their effectiveness. The star rating system was designed by Boots (retailer) and is not recognised as industry standard, nor is it regulated.
The letters "UVA" inside a circle is a European industry standard marking, which is contained on all Calypso products.

Lovely Mist
I usually buy the dry oil but decided to try this new mist. It's absolutely lovely to use. Easy to apply, smells nice and has protected my fair skin. Just a shame the bottle doesn't last long so probably not very economical.

A great sun protection spray
This is a lovely lightweight spray that isnt at all sticky and smells lovely. It can be used on face and body and does give your skin a nice glow, especially if you already have a tan forming. It offers great protection and is waterproof. At 100ml you should be able to get it through airport security but I will be putting mine in my main case as I wouldnt want to chance it being taken away from me!! I would certainly get this again.

Easy to apply, feels nice on the skin
It does exactly as it says. It is the easiest sunscreen I have ever used. It is quick and easy to spray onto my skin and it absorbs quickly. Usually, sunscreen products leave my skin slightly sticky but not with this one. It leaves the skin smooth and refreshed. The shape of the bottle makes it easy to hold even with wet hands. The product is very convenient to use - the pump works at any angle, making it quick and effortless to apply to all body parts. A little product goes a long way so the bottle will last a long time. I feel confident to use this as my skin will be protected from both UVB and UVA. It is SPF30 so it needs to be applied for often.
